Bhopal, Nov 3:
The State Government is going to formulate a policy on organic farming with a view to making agriculture profitable. The first meeting of the committee constituted in this connection will he held at 12 noon on November 5. The meeting will be presided over by Farmers' Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Dr Ramkrishna Kusmaria.
The meeting will be held at headquarter of Madhya Pradesh State Agriculture Marketing Board at Arera Hills, Bhopal. Rajya Sabha member Dr Anil Madhav Dave and state president of Gau Sewa Cell ALOK BHARGAVA have been invited to the meeting as special invitees. The state government is making constant efforts to make agriculture profitable.
The committee to formulate policy on organic farming has been constituted with this in view, which is chaired by Dr Kusmaria. The committee will submit its recommendations to the government within 45 days. Apart from government members, experts of various fields have also been included in the committee. The committee will formulate policy on organic farming after meetings and discussions with various stakeholders.
The non-government members of the committee include organic farming expert MGK Menon (Indore), former agriculture director Dr GS Kaushal, Deepak Sachde, CEO, Malpani Trust, Bajwara, Sunil Gangrade of KJ Education Society, Bhopal, retired chief aquaculture scientist WR Deshpande, Dawat Food consultant KK Tiwari, organic farming expert Shri Ajit Kelkar, progressive farmers Indra Bahadur Singh, Ashok Patidar, Virendra Jain, Dayaram Dhakad, Om Narayan Patel, agriculture scientist Dr Rajendra Singh Negi, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh general secretary Shiv Kumar Sharma and member of State Farmers' Commission Dr Dhyanpal Singh.
The government members of the committee are Additional Chief Secretary, Joint Commissioner Agriculture Products, Principal Secretary Farmers' Welfare & Agriculture Development, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Director Farmers' Welfare & Agriculture Development, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, Managing Director Madhya Pradesh State Agriculture Marketing Board, Director National Organic Farming Centre, Jabalpur, Director National Organic Farming Centre, Ghaziabad, Director Research Services, Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University, Jabalpur and Director, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agriculture University.
